Girl, Interupped 1999 Winona Ryder, Angelina Jolie , Whoopi Goldberg This movie is one of my all time favourites. It gets better every time I see it. A story of a young girl (Susanna Kaysen - Winona Ryder) trying to find out the truth about her self. She is put in a Mental Hospital for a "rest" and this 1 experance changes her reflection on every thing. She soon makes friends with a burn victum who stays a child Polly (ELISABETH MOSS ), a pathalogial lyer Georgina (Clea Duvall) and a reclusive daddy's girl obsessed with chicken bones and laxatives Daisy (Brittany Murphy). But one girlie she makes great friends with and one of the best charators in the film is Lisa (Angelina Jolie -won an Ostor for this performance) a delightfully feisty, hyper and rebellious sociopath. With girls like these around something is bound to happen, they escape and find happiness, sadness and every thing else in these friend ships. And they come a cross the head nurse - Val (Whoopi Goldberg). Its about one girls treak to find out 1 question - what is sane? A brethe taking film with enough magical moments to make you want to watch it again and again. A timeless classic that will always be number 1! Wortha try for any fan of the cast or a movie goer. 9/10 - enough said! |
Spider Man 2002 Tobey Maguire , Willem Dafor , Kirsten Dunst Well hes one of the last SuperHeros to be tranformed on to the big screen! And its been worth the wait. SpiderMan is a actionpacked display of computer grafics and funny men in tight out-fits. Its been made from a comic book into a movie well, the use of bright colours reminds of that. With a nasty villin - The greem Gobin and the damsel in destress - Mary Jane Watson what more could a super hero want? I know a best-friend turned enemy! This film has it all - well for a super hero flick. One of the best no-brainers of the year, colourful, exciting and best of all a hunky man! Worth a watch if your a super-hero fan or fancey a easy going movie a super 8/10 |

Austin Powers in Gold Member 2002 Mike Myers , Beyonce Knowles , Michel Cane This movie is the laugh of the summer. The third Austin Powers (and in my eyes the best). Filled with slapstick comedy and 2 hours worth of some weird and wonderful moments, if this doesn't' make you laugh nothing will! New ly released from prison Dr Evil has his eyes set on revenge and alot of money. By taking Austin Powers father (fada - lol) hostage and with a new bady on his side - GoldMember (I from Holland isn't dat vird?) there seems no stopping. But Austin Powers bei n g his usual randy self with the help of a new girl Foxxy Cleopatra if on the way to saving the world again. With appearances from Tom Cruise , Danny DeVieoto and John Travolta this movie is fab, and of course Mini-Me , Fat Bastard and Evil Scott are in it too. Mike Myers is an amazing and girl-group singer Beyonce Knowles is surprising good (well cast). Worth a watch if you liked the first 2. groovy 9/10 |
Signs 2002 Mel Gibson , Joaquin Phoenix Signs was number one box office smash in US and UK - and t here's a reason for that! Signs is a scary movie with a plot! A recently retired reverent Graham Hess (Mel Gibson) has lost his faith due to the resent death of this wife. Him and his 2 children - Morgan and Bo and brother - Merrill (Joaquin Phoenix) live in a rural farm in a quite little village where nothing ever happens - until now. After mysterious crop circles appear on his field, and a mysterious stranger gives them a scare Mel Gibson starts to get edgy - not 100% that this is just a bitter neighbour . Him and his children soon realise that this is a worldwide crisis, and that strange "lights" are appearing with in miles of the world-wide crop circles. Is it just a prank? Or is the world's end nearing .......? Mel Gibson appears for his first movie in a while and is great bursting with feeling and his co-star Joaquin Phoenix (brother of River Phoenix) is equal matched in acting skills. A movie that makes you sits on the edge of your seat from the very start to the end. Shame about some of the ending effects. A movie about finding faith in everything Great! 8/10 |

Red Dragon 2002 Anthony Hopkins , Edward Norton , Ralph Fiennes A prequel to Hannibal and Silence of the Lambs and a re-make of Man Hunter it is Red Dragon. Will Graham (Edward Norton) is a famil y man with a nack for working out crimes, but went into retirement after a nasty run-in with Dr Hannibal Lecter (Anthony Hopkins). A couple of years on Graham is asked to work on a horrific case and ironically needs Hannibals help. This time it's a Hannib a l fan obviously prides Hannibal's work, which is shown by a hand-made scrapbook full of articles and photos. This murder is Francis "D" Dolarhyde (Ralph Fiennes) a tragic man brought up by his abusive grandmother and haunted by memories of the past. Franc i s "D" Dolarhyde is slowly "transforming" into the Red Dragon. A man troublied by his past who takes time to work out his murders in a truly horrific detail. But his "transforming" is soon questioned by a newly found love interest a blind girl unable see h i s huge tattooing of a dragon on his back or his harelip (scar on his lip). Francis "D" Dolarhyde must fight between his love and his transformation, while Will Graham must fight his past and get answers out of Hannibal before the Red Dragon finds a new vi ctim. With haunting music and disturbing whispers, Red Dragon is sure to build up the tension, and if the Red Dragon doesn't scare you some imagines will. Not for the faint hearted. Tragic and Terrifying tale. 9/10 |
One Hour Photo 2002 Robin Williams Not in his usual funny form Robin Williams makes a dramatic change of character. From the usual happy-go-lucky man, he changes into an obsessive lonely metally abused Sy "The Photo Guy" Parrish. Sy appears to be a happy man but is obviously mentally fighting h im self, after a sad and abusive up bring. Working in a 1hour photo stand in a super market Sy's only remorse is a returning wealthy, happy family the Yorkins. Keeping copies of their photos and pinning them up in his house Sy becomes obsessive with the f a mily, inventing false connections and being attracted to the wife and mother (Connie Nielsen). Sy feels connected to his family and is willing to do anything for them, as along as the are together and happy but is being questioned by the husband having an affair. Sy feels it is his turn to intervene. Robin Williams hoppfuly starting a change of characters and is off to a good start. A chilling and even more so saddening sale of Sy "The Photo" Guy. Sad Story but not a sad rating 8/10 |

XXX 2002 Vin Diesel, Samuel L. Jackson Xander Cage (Vin Diesel) is an extreme sports action hero, making a living from doing deadly stunts to even more deadly stunts. Master spy (Samuel L Jackson) looking for a new type of under cover spy to help hunt out a gang of Russian T erriest. This gang seems to party hard during the night and create biotechnocal bombs during the day - hard life really. Including an undercover Russian Spy who kicks some ass of her own while falling in love with xXx! . The stunts through out the movie a r e breath taking and with a surprising amount of jokes xXx is a take off Bond with a little of Gone in 60 Seconds character. Vin Diesel proving he's more than a pretty face - he has guts too. An easy going film, but don't expect to much surprise maybe a li ttle predicable, but I wasn't excepting anything else of this action movie. Stunts that will make the hair on the back of your neck stand up in a film will flare and I must admit it's very enjoyable, worth a watch. Extreme 7/10 |
My Big Fat Greek Wedding 2002 Nia Vardalos, John Corbett There comes a time in a woman's life when shes finally meet Mr Right and finally feels shes ready to marry - if it was only so easy for Fotoula 'Toula' Portokalos (Nia Vardalos). She is a plump, olive skinned Greek. Her family is Greek and proud - even to the point where they would paint the Greek place on their garage door. Her father Gus (Michael Constantine) wants her to "Marry a Greek, Have Some Greek Babies and Cook Greek Food for them". And she was ok with this until Schoolteacher Ian Miller (John Corbett) walks into her life. After Toula with her mother's Maria (Lainie Kazan) permission sets out breaking the chain of working in the family restaurant it was only time until she broke the chain of marring a Greek. With crazy relatives popping in and ou t including N'Syncs Joey Fatone it was bound to be a hit. The story line is strong and it has the cast to back it up, but I couldn't help feel it was sometimes lacking in the comedy department, main player Nia Vardalos who also wrote the film is obviously going to be on the screen for a while, you could tell through this movie. A little disappointing, but maybe I had High Expectations. Defiantly worth a watch, funny but not quite laugh-a-minute. Just Greek 7-8/10 |

8 Femme 2002 Catherine Deneuve With the release of Amile subtitled movies have reached a new audience. With first thoughts I would never go to a non-English movie because I thought it would be hard to read the subtitles but as soon as the movie starts they become very easy to read and i t becomes a natural action. As for the movie it's self, wow. With first impressions it seems a murder mystery but with-in half an hour you see that this is no normal mystery but turns into a musical! With random songs popping up every now and again, it certainly takes a special person to appreciate this movie, but it was defiantly my kind of flick. With 1 dead man, 8 female murder suspects trapped in a log cabin with no hope of any rescues the girls take it apon them selves to find the murder. With a new twist to the plot every minute it seems this movie is anything but normal! The cast seems all to familiar but unless you are up on your French movies I doubt you shall know any of them except Catherine Deneuve how use to model for a make-up company. Expect the unexpected with this, you won't be bored but maybe surprised you shall either love it or hate it, and I personally loved it. French directors seem to have a totally different spin on things, so if you are looking for something offbeat you shall enjoy it, but don't expect a Chocolate or Amile! Its Moulin Rouge meets Murder on the Orient express (not the same ending though). 9/10 for originality |
